Are there skip the line tickets for the Accademia?

Can I buy tickets at the door?

There is a ticket office, but in season the unreserved line commonly runs one to two hours and slots sell out. Full answer.

Do I need to book in advance?

In practice yes, especially March to May and August to September, when the best slots go two to three weeks out. How far ahead, by month.

What if everything is sold out?

What are the opening hours?

Tuesday to Sunday, 8:15 to 18:50, last admission 18:20. Closed Mondays, January 1, December 25. Details and the 2026 exceptions.

How long does a visit take?

Most people are done in 60 to 90 minutes; art lovers stretch to two hours. A realistic room-by-room hour.

When is it quietest?

The 8:15 opening slot and late afternoons after 16:00. The hour-by-hour picture.

Is there a dress code?

No formal one like a church, but large bags fail security and shoulders-and-knees modesty is wise in Florence generally. What actually gets stopped.

Is it air conditioned?

The main halls are climate-controlled for the art, which saves August visitors. Surviving Florence heat.

Can I bring luggage?
